How prorated billing works / what happens to my current subscription if I upgrade my Formaloo plan?

Changing plans doesn’t mean losing what you’ve already paid for. Formaloo automatically applies the remaining value of your current subscription toward your new plan.

When you switch plans (whether it's upgrading, or just changing the billing term from monthly to annual), Formaloo automatically calculates a prorated amount, which means the unused portion of your current subscription is credited toward your new plan.

When prorated charges apply

Proration applies whenever you switch plans while already on an active paid subscription.

This includes:

  • Switching from monthly to yearly on the same plan (e.g. monthly Pro → yearly Pro)

  • Switching from monthly to yearly on a different plan (e.g. monthly Pro → yearly Business)

  • Upgrading to another plan within the same billing cycle (e.g. monthly Pro → monthly Business, or yearly Pro → yearly Business)

In all of these cases, the remaining value of your current plan is taken into account.

💡 Not looking to switch plans entirely?

If you only need additional capacity in a specific area – for example more team seats or external users, extra custom emails, PFDs, or AI credits – you can use Formaloo Add-ons to expand those limits without changing your base plan:

How proration works when switching plans

When you go to Upgrade your plan:

  1. You select the new plan and billing option

  2. At checkout, you’ll see the Prorated amount

  3. This amount reflects the unused portion of your current subscription

  4. That value is automatically deducted from the total price of the new plan

So instead of paying the full amount again, you only pay the difference.

Bottom line

Upgrading your plan in Formaloo is designed to be simple and fair 🧡

You can switch plans at any time without worrying about losing what you’ve already paid for – any unused time is automatically applied to your new plan, so you only pay for what actually changes.

This way, you can adjust your plan as your needs evolve, without overpaying or starting from scratch.
