How to enable Magic Voice on your form

Enable AI-powered voice form filling in Formaloo and let respondents complete forms faster by speaking naturally instead of typing manually.

What you’ll build

By the end of this guide, you’ll have a form where respondents can click a microphone button, record their voice, and let Formaloo AI fill matching fields for review.

ℹ️ Magic Voice only fills fields; it does not automatically submit the form. Respondents can still review, edit, remove, or keep any generated values before submitting manually.

When to use this

  • Your form is long and you're losing respondents partway through

  • Your respondents fill forms on the go (mobile, field work, in cars, on site)

  • You want a more accessible experience for users who can't easily type

  • You're collecting open intake information where people describe themselves naturally (name, role, company, needs)

  • You want your form to feel modern and effortless, not like paperwork

Step-by-step

Step 1: Create or open your form and add your fields

Create a new form using a template, Magic Create, or the + New button, or simply open any existing form you already have.

Magic Voice works with regular form fields, so build your form the way you normally would.

For better results, use clear field titles such as:

  • Full name

  • Work email

  • Phone number

  • Company name

  • Appointment date

This helps Formaloo AI better understand where spoken information should go.

💡 Magic Voice works on any form type, classic and one-question-at-a-time. You don't need to redesign your form for it.

Step 3: Enable Magic Voice

Open the form settings panel and expand the Advanced section.

Then turn on Enable Magic Voice.

Once enabled, respondents will see a floating microphone button on the form view.

⚠️ Magic Voice is available on the Business plan and above. You can compare plans and features on our pricing page.

Step 3: Open the form view

Preview or open your published form.

You’ll see the Magic Voice microphone button in the bottom-right corner of the form.

The button changes based on its state:

  • Idle: ready to record

  • Recording: active recording state

  • Processing: Formaloo AI is reading and mapping the voice input

  • Completed: the button returns to idle and can be used again

Step 4: Click the microphone button

Click the microphone button to start using Magic Voice.

The first time a respondent uses it in a session, a consent popup appears. They need to review it and click "I agree" before the recording starts.

The popup also includes an Enable overwrite option, which is selected by default.

Step 5: Choose whether Magic Voice can overwrite values

When the consent popup appears, respondents can choose whether to enable Enable overwrite.

  • Enable overwrite selected — Magic Voice can overwrite existing field values with information from new recordings.

  • Enable overwrite not selected — Magic Voice only fills empty fields and updates values that were previously filled by Magic Voice.

ℹ️ Each Magic Voice recording can be up to 60 seconds long. Respondents can use that time to fill a single field or provide information for multiple fields in one recording. If needed, they can record again as many times as necessary to continue filling the form.

Step 6: Record your voice

After clicking I agree, the respondent can speak naturally.

For example:

“My name is Sarah Johnson, my email is [email protected], and I’d like to book an appointment for next Monday.”

Click the microphone button again to stop recording.

Each recording can currently be up to 60 seconds long.

Step 7: Review the filled fields

After the recording ends, Formaloo AI processes the voice input and fills matching fields on the form.

Respondents can then:

  • Keep the filled values

  • Edit any field manually

  • Clear any field

  • Click the microphone again to record more information

  • Submit the form when ready

Step 8: Handle unclear recordings

If the recording is silent, unclear, or too hard to understand, Magic Voice may skip fields instead of guessing.

For example, the respondent may see an error such as:

We couldn’t hear anything.

They can simply click the microphone button and try again.

Step 9: Publish and share your form

When your form is ready, share it as usual.

You can:

  • Share the public form link

  • Embed it on your website

  • add it inside a portal

Final result

You now have a form that respondents can complete by speaking naturally instead of typing every field manually.

This makes long forms easier to finish, especially on mobile or in fieldwork situations. Respondents stay in control because they can review and edit everything before submitting.
