What is a meta image?

A meta image, also known as a preview image, is a visual snippet that appears alongside your form or survey link when shared on social media or messaging platforms. It acts as a visual invitation and entices users to click and participate.

Why use a meta image for your Formaloo forms and surveys

Increase click-through rates

An attractive and informative meta image can grab attention and encourage users to click through to your form or survey. It's a great asset for increasing the completion rate of your forms and surveys.

Improve brand recognition

A consistent visual style across your meta images can strengthen your brand recognition and create a stronger online presence.

Increase search visibility

Well-designed meta images that accurately reflect your form or survey's content can improve search engine ranking and make it easier for users to find what they're looking for.

⭐ Pro tips for creating effective Meta images for your forms and surveys

  • Keep it relevant: Ensure your meta image directly relates to the content of your form or survey.

  • Simplicity is key: Use a clear and uncluttered design that is easily understood at a glance.

  • Brand it up: Customize it with your brand colors, fonts, and logos to create a unified look and feel.

  • A strong call to action: Consider including a clear and concise call to action within the image, such as "Start Now" or "Take the Survey."

How to set a meta image on your form and survey

The good news is that Formaloo makes it super easy to set meta images for your forms and surveys. When you share your form or survey link on social media or messaging platforms, Formaloo automatically generates a default meta image, but you can customize that to make the form yours.

Design your Meta image

While there's no single "perfect" size for a meta image, there are some ideal dimensions to consider for optimal display across different platforms:

File size

We recommend targeting a file size under 500 KB. This size ensures compatibility with most platforms and keeps loading times snappy.

While high-resolution images are ideal for maintaining quality when displayed, large files can slow down loading times, which affects user experience.

Tools like online image compressors can help reduce file size without sacrificing significant image quality.

Recommended Meta image size

We recommend using a meta image sized at 1200 x 630 pixels for the best overall compatibility. This size balances providing enough detail and ensuring proper scaling on various social media platforms and search engines.

Minimum size

While bigger is generally better, some platforms might enforce minimum size requirements. To make sure your meta image is always visible, avoid going below 600 x 315 pixels.

Aspect ratio

A 1.91:1 aspect ratio is ideal. It aligns with the common layout of many social media platforms, such as Facebook.

Upload your favicon

Open your Formaloo form or survey builder, and click the "Settings" tab.

Under the settings menu, you'll find a dedicated section for SEO and meta tags. In this section, you can upload your meta image. Simply select your prepared image and click "Save."

Adding a Meta image to your forms and surveys can significantly enhance their visibility, increase engagement, and collect more valuable data. Sign up for your free Formaloo account today and start creating forms and surveys that get noticed!
