When connecting your forms to Google Sheets, it might sometimes happen that:
the connection fails while setting it up, or
an existing connection suddenly stops syncing.
In some cases, you may also receive an automated email from Google or Formaloo saying something like:
“Your form's connection to Google Sheets has been paused.”
This usually happens due to either:
authorization and access issues, or
incorrect connection settings.
Below, you'll see how you can easily troubleshoot each case.
🔒 How to fix authorization and access issues
These may be related to insufficient access permissions to the form or spreadsheet, or some required permissions that may have been skipped when connecting your Google account.
👀 You might not be the owner of the form:
Only the user who originally created the form has permission to connect it to third-party tools like Google Sheets.
➡️ Solution:
If you are not the form owner, ask the actual creator of the form to set up the Google Sheets connection instead.
👀 Your connected Google account does not have sufficient access to the spreadsheet:
The Google account connected under your Formaloo profile must have sufficient access to the target Google Sheet.
➡️ Solution:
Make sure the connected Google account is added as an editor to the spreadsheet you are trying to sync with.
👀 Required permissions were not granted when connecting your Google account:
This can happen if the wrong Google account was connected under your Formaloo profile, or some permission requests were skipped during setup.
➡️ Solution:
If you are unsure which Google account is connected or whether all permissions were granted correctly, the best next step is to fully disconnect and reconnect your Google account.
To do this:
Open your Formaloo profile
Scroll to the bottom of the page
Click to Disconnect Google
Then:
Sign in to your Google account
Open Manage your Google Account
Go to Linked apps
Find Formaloo and delete all existing connections
After that:
Return to your Formaloo profile
Click Connect Google
Click to Reconnect Google
Make sure to grant Formaloo permission to view, create, edit, and delete your Google spreadsheets
🛠 How to fix connection setup issues
If all authorization settings look correct but the sync still does not work, it’s worth reviewing the connection settings themselves.
To check them:
Click on your Formaloo profile icon
Go to Apps & integrations ➔ Google Sheets
Go to Active integrations
Find the affected connection and click Edit
Then carefully verify the following settings:
👀 A wrong copy of the form might have been connected by accident:
If you have multiple forms with similar names, it’s possible the wrong copy was selected during setup.
👀 Verify or update the sheet title and sheet URL
Both the sheet title and sheet URL must exactly match the target Google Sheet.
The connection may get paused in case:
the sheet title has changed but wasn't updated in the connection settings,
the sheet URL points to a different sheet inside the spreadsheet.
➡️ Solution 1:
When copying the Sheet URL, make sure you are currently in the exact target sheet tab inside Google Sheets:
➡️ Solution 2:
If you need to connect a different Sheet, note that both the Sheet title, and the Sheet URL will be different.
So if you reconnect a different sheet, make sure to update both values accordingly:
After verifying the details, try connecting your Google Sheet again.
