How to move 'Calc' to the 'Logic & Calculation' tab

When shifting from "Calc" to the "Logic & Calculation" tab, remove old "Calc" options. Add new logic for accurate calculations.

Updated over a week ago

With Formaloo’s upgraded calculation functionalities, it's essential to shift from the old "Calc" tab to the new "Logic & Calculation" tab for more powerful and accurate calculations.

This guide will walk you through the process of transitioning your form to the new dashboard, removing the old calculations, and setting up your logic in the advanced "Logic & Calculation" tab.

Why should you move to the "Logic & Calculation" tab

We have recently disabled the editing option in the "Calc" tab since most users are now using the new "Logic & Calculation" functionalities. The new system offers:

  • More advanced calculation and logic features.

  • Regular updates and enhancements.

  • Improved performance and accuracy.

Important reminder

When both the old "Calc" and new "Logic & Calculation" functionalities are active in the same form, the calculations may not work as expected.

That's why it’s crucial to remove the old "Calc" options before adding logic to the new system.

By making this transition, you'll ensure your forms are more dynamic, reliable, and future-proofed as new updates roll out.

To make sure your forms continue working smoothly and to benefit from these updates, it's recommended to move to the new "Logic & Calculation" tab.

Step-by-step guide to moving 'Calc' to the 'Logic & Calculation' tab

Step 1: Open your form in the old dashboard

First, navigate to the form that is still using the old "Calc" functionalities.

  • Open the form in your dashboard.

  • Review the calculations and logic that you have set up.

Step 2: Remove the old "Calc" settings

Before adding any new logic or calculations, you need to remove all "Calc" options from the form.

Having both the "Calc" and "Logic & Calculation" functionalities active at the same time can cause issues.

  • Go to the "Calc" tab in the form settings.

  • Remove any existing calculations and rules from the old "Calc" tab to prevent conflicts.

Step 3: Switch to the "Logic & Calculation" tab

Once the old "Calc" options have been removed, navigate to the "Logic & Calculation" tab in your form editor.

  • In the "Logic & Calculation" tab, you’ll have access to the upgraded tools and features.

  • Recreate your old calculations using the new logic functionalities.

Move your form to the new dashboard

To unlock the advanced logic features, move your old form to the new dashboard.

Once your form is on the new dashboard, you can start adding and editing logic using the advanced logic.

Add Logic and Calculations in the new dashboard

With your form on the new dashboard, navigate to the "Logic" tab to set up your calculations and logic:

  1. Add Advanced Logic: Add conditional logic rules for different fields.

  2. Set up calculations: Create the calculations you need using advanced tools such as cross-field logic or multi-conditional rules.

  3. Test the form: After adding the new logic and calculations, test the form to ensure everything works as expected.

Benefits of moving to the new dashboard

  • Advanced calculation features: Access features such as cross-field logic and multi-conditional rules that weren't available in the old "Calc" system.

  • Regular updates: The new "Logic & Calculation" tab is continuously updated with new features, unlike the old "Calc" tab, which is no longer maintained.

  • Enhanced user experience: By moving to the new dashboard, you simplify the process of adding and managing logic and calculations for your forms.
