How to add charts to your projects in Formaloo

What is charts in the Formaloo and how to create one?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

When you collect data through forms, the raw responses are valuable — but they can also be overwhelming. That’s where charts come in. Instead of reading through dozens or even thousands of entries, charts turn your numbers into clear visuals that highlight trends, patterns, and key insights.

In Formaloo, adding charts to your projects is simple and flexible. You can place them anywhere on your project pages, build live dashboards, and even customize their look to match your brand. This guide walks you through:

What are charts in formaloo?

Charts in Formaloo are automatically generated visualizations of your form data. When you add a chart block, Formaloo detects the type of field in your form and creates the most suitable chart automatically.

For example:

  • If you’re running a survey with single-choice questions, Formaloo will generate a doughnut chart showing the distribution of answers.

  • If you’re tracking multi-choice fields, you’ll see a column chart that highlights how often each option was selected.

  • If you’re monitoring performance or satisfaction scores, you’ll get charts that combine doughnut visuals with NPS or average ratings.

This makes charts one of the most powerful features in Formaloo because you don’t need any technical skills to analyze your data.

💡 Pro Tip: Charts show you the big picture, but you can uncover even deeper insights with Formaloo AI Analyze. This smart block helps you spot hidden trends, patterns, and anomalies in your form data without spreadsheets or manual work. Option 2: add with the + or / shortcut

  3. From the dropdown menu, select Chart (you can also just type “chart”).

  4. In the menu that opens, select the form you want to visualize.

  5. Your chart will now be added to your page.

💡 Pro Tip: When you use the / shortcut, you’re not limited to charts — you can also explore other block types instantly. It’s a fast way to experiment and build layouts without breaking your focus. For example, you can quickly add a Kanban board to manage tasks or a Table data block to organize and filter your submissions.

Chart components in formaloo

Every chart in Formaloo has two main components, and it’s important to understand them so you can make the most of your data:

1. Views and responses over time

This is a line chart that automatically tracks how many people have viewed your form and how many have submitted responses. It’s a quick way to measure engagement over a specific period of time.

For example, if you launch a marketing campaign, this chart helps you see whether your traffic is increasing, steady, or dropping. It also shows how views compare to actual submissions, giving you insight into conversion rates.

2. Charts based on your questions & form fields

Formaloo automatically creates charts depending on your form fields:

  • Doughnut Chart: Best for single-choice, dropdown, score, CSAT, Yes/No, and Like/Dislike fields. Perfect for showing the percentage breakdown of simple answers.

  • Column Chart: Used for multi-choice fields, allowing you to see how often each option is selected across respondents.

  • NPS & Average Rating: Special metrics shown alongside doughnut charts for score and CSAT fields. These give you additional layers of analysis like customer loyalty and satisfaction trends.

💡 Pro Tip: For more detailed examples of how each field type is displayed, see our guide How to showcase charts based on form responses.

Use cases for charts

Charts aren’t just for making data look nice — they serve practical purposes across different industries and teams. Here are some common examples:

  • Customer Feedback & NPS Surveys: Track satisfaction levels, spot problem areas, and visualize improvements over time.

  • Event Management: Monitor registrations, attendance rates, and ticket categories in real time.

  • Education & Training: Analyze quiz results, test performance, and course feedback without manually reviewing each submission.

  • Sales & Marketing Dashboards: Track leads, revenue, and campaign performance, and share live dashboards with your team or clients.
